Refurbished Signal Box

Due to the success of the Berwyn Viaduct project, George Law were asked to negotiate for the Refurbishment of Llangollen Railway Station.
The contract required roof repairs (timber and tiling), dry rot and woodworm treatment in the roof and stairwell areas, repairs to stonework and refixing dropped arches, canopy repairs above the Station platform and total refurbishment to the kitchen, waiting room and booking hall.

Repainted in GWR Colours

Work had to be carried out to Heritage direction and all details preserved.  Painting was in the original GWR colours and new station lights also conform to the original gas light details.
While stripping out kitchen wall covering, an existing archway was uncovered, plans were changed to leave this exposed and made into a feature.

Station Overview

A damp proof rendering had to be applied to the sandstone kitchen wall due to water ingress from the high level entrance doorway above the kitchen.  The only concession was new central heating and electrical installation to current Regulations.

New Tea Room

Our Parent Company has a joinery department, so it was decided that the windows would be removed and refurbished.  Patterns were taken for the purlins and other ornate features for manufacture in the joiners’ workshop.
